    Text Yes, Gladys and Clarence were married and had 2 sons, Norman b 1926 and Richard b 1928. Shortly afterwards, they were divorced. In 1930 census, Clarence was an inmate, do not know why or how long. He later moved on to Newport, RI where he married Mildred Tingsley where they had 3 children. Meanwhile, back in Athol/Orange, Gladys raised the 2 boys alone until the 60's when she and

    . William C 1881 married in New York State. Apparently, they could not get a license in MA.

    Yes, it is confusing...especially when William C died. Norman and Richard were his biological grandsons and legally his step-sons!

    There is even more strange things once we get into the Newport bunch.
