    Text Kirby, Russell B. Jr. Age 90, longtime resident of Baytown Township and more recently Eden Prairie, passed away May 14, 2015. Preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Kelton Kirby. Born March 12, 1925 in Allentown, PA. Russ served in the 99th Infantry Division during WW II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the crossing of the Rhine at Remagen. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Following the end of the war, he attended Princeton University where he was a member of the swimming team and received a BS and MS in engineering. He married Charlotte in 1949. After completing his studies at Princeton, he moved to Minnesota and worked at 3M for thirty years. Russ and Charlotte lived for many years in Baytown Township where Russ served on the planning commission and Charlotte was town clerk. They were members of Ascension Church in Stillwater, MN. Russ was active in local politics and served on the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's citizens' board. He enjoyed canoeing, playing bridge, reading traveling, winters spent in Hawaii and time spent with his family. He is survived by his children Kelton Noring, Katherine (Richard) Hackett, Russell (Christine Mattera) Kirby, Thomas (Beverly) Kirby; grandchildren Jeremy Noring, Benjamin Noring, Helena Mattera, Nicholas Kirby, Carrie Hackett and William Hackett; great granddaughter Veronica Noring; and his longtime friend and companion Marilyn McNamee. Interment at Fort Snelling and a family celebration of Russ' life are planned for a later date.
