    Text Wayne Kenneth North, 81 years old of Leominster, went to the heavens which he loved on January 12, 2019, at HealthAlliance- Leominster Hospital.

    Wayne was born in Greenfield, MA on September 9, 1937 to Kenneth J. North and Ruby May (Whitaker) North.

    He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1954, Atlantic Union College with a B.A, University of Mass at Lowell with a M.A. He served in the United States Air Force ~ Band in Texas, Iceland and Arizona for 4 years. He completed the American Sailing Association Certified Captains License in Damariscotta Maine.

    Wayne was employed by various printing companies, Stevens Business, and the City of Leominster School~ Music Department, where he taught for 32 years, sharing his strong love of music with his many students. He gave private instrumental lessons for years in the United States and Iceland.

    He was a member of Pioneer Valley Symphony, Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, Westminster Brass Ensemble, Group 70, Joint Venture, Various area town bands, and Walt Disney Enterprises. He played for President John Kennedy, Luciano Pavarotti, among other known individuals. He belonged to the Musicians Union, Leominster Art Association, Queen Lake Association, Phillipston Historical Society, American Sailing Association, the Delvey Association and the American Legion. He loved to sail, building his own boats, taking photographs, skiing, sailing, swimming, gardening and rescuing pets.

    He leaves his wife Evelyn (Munson) North, a sister Janet Smith (Norm), and many nephews and nieces, Steven (Cherie), Dennis (Sheila) Lou Ann Ewing (Harry) Ben, Christina (Zack), Lauren, Logan, Ashley, Joseph, Jeremy, Jake, and Elliot all of the Mid West. 12 cousins around the United States, his friends, neighbors and fellow musicians all whom he enjoyed.

    A funeral service will be held in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Winchendon, in the spring at a date and time to be announced.
