    Text Janice M. (Woodman) Farmer, 89, of Concordia Assisted Living, Cabot, died Sunday.



    Born Oct. 6, 1919, in Lowell, Mass., she was the daughter of Harry L. Woodman of Massachusetts and Ruth E. Ward of Massachusetts.

    She grew up in Lowell, graduating from Lowell High School in 1937, and also from the Bradshaw Business School.

    She moved to North Orange, Mass., in 1941, and lived in Orange for several years. Since 1949, she lived in Pennsylvania.

    She worked at Montgomery Ward for 22 years, was a member of the Portersville Bible Church and enjoyed puzzles, reading and spending time with her family.

    Surviving are her husband, John D. Farmer, who she married Aug. 21, 1975; a son, Jeffrey S. Smith and his wife, Sherry, of Butler; a daughter, Jean R. Davis and her husband, Gary, of Slippery Rock; a sister, Shirley Buell of Cabot; stepchildren, Robert Farmer, Elaine Steinheiser and her husband, Dee, of Edinboro, and Joan Phillips and Sandy Sevigny, both of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard H. Smith and Granville W. Cooper; a granddaughter, Tracy Lynette Scarborough; and two stepchildren, Margaret Stroman and John D. Farmer Jr.

    FARMER Funeral services for Janice M. (Woodman) Farmer, who died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, Mass.
