Born in Wellesley, he was the son of the late Alton and Alice (Hill) Temple and husband of Sylvia A. Temple. They were married 53 years. Alan was a graduate of Wellesley High School, Wentworth Institute, and later Northeastern University, where he received a bachelors degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Temple worked for 30 years with Honeywell Co. as an engineer. A resident of Ashland for 51 years, he enjoyed gardening, travel, & birding. Alan served his country honorably with the Marine Corps during the Korean War. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Mark A. Temple and his wife Cathy of Northbridge, and Jeffrey A. Temple and his wife Jill of Ashland; one step-daughter, Charlene Fruchter and her husband Robert of Tiberon, CA; four grandchildren; Corinne and her husband Justin, Christopher, Ross, and Madison; one brother, Arnold Temple and his wife Janet of Natick, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com), 325 Main St. in Ashland. The funeral service will be private.
