Bickford, 83, of Streeter Hill Rd., West Chesterfield, formerly of Northfield, Mass., died Saturday morning at Applewood Healthcare Center, Winchester. She was born in East Dover, Vt., on April 26, 1927, daughter of Merle and Louise Gage Jones. She was educated in Vernon, Vt., schools and attended classes in the old brick school house that now houses the Vernon Historical Museum. She was a graduate of Northfield High School in 1945. She then attended Northampton Commercial College. She worked early in life for the American Youth Hostel in Northfield and followed it to New York when they moved their headquarters in 1948. She moved back to Northfield in 1950, and in 1951 she married Edmund Morgan, who predeceased her in 1976. Rua went to work at the Lily-Dan restaurant in Northfield in 1955, and purchased it in 1965, changing the name to Rua's. She married Roy Bickford on Aug. 19, 1973, and moved to West Chesterfield. She was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, Montague Lodge. Mr. Bickford predeceased her on Nov. 4, 2009. She retired from Rua's restaurant in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Hebert of Winchester, and her granddaughter, Jennifer Hebert of Kannapolis, N.C., and stepson, Roy Bickford, Jr., of Lincoln, Maine; stepdaughters, Pam Bickford of Brattleboro, Vt., Laurie Bickford and Linda Houston of Hinsdale. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mildred Jones of Baytown, Texas, and many cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 147 Main St., Northfield, MA. The Rev. Lloyd Patrill, pastor will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Arthur Rueblinger, pastor of the First Unitarian Church, W. Chesterfield, NH.       Annie Irish

      NORTHFIELD — Mrs Annie (Harvey) Irish 95 of Warwick Ave resident here for 72 years died yesterday at Franklin Nursing Home, Greenfield where she had been since April. Born Oct 14, 1872 in Warwick, she was the daughter of Henry M and Lucy (Holton) Harvey. She attended schools in Warwick and was married there Sept 30 1896 to Fred A Irish. She had lived here since then. Her husband died in 1955. She was a member of North-field Chapter OES, and for many years was a member of the Women’s Alliance of First Church, Unitarian, here of which she was a member. She leaves two daughters Mrs Gertrude Morgan and Mrs Winifred Morgan both of Northfield; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at the Kidder Funeral Home. Rev Frank A Wahlstrom of the Unitarian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Warwick Cemetery. There will be no calling hours It is requested that flowers be omitted.
