• Obituary: 13 Dec 2015; James Emil Jessup was born in March 1926 in Gardena, Calif., to Charles and Marie Jessup. He passed away peacefully on November 23rd, 2015, in his home in Los Osos, Calif. Jim served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. While serving his country he married the woman of his dreams, Gara Blanche Brown. While farming was always in his blood, he paused a bit to go to school; where he started his family in a small trailer on campus at Cal Poly. Eventually farming pulled him back to Shandon, Calif. Jim went back to college at Cal Poly and graduated in 1967; where he received his degree in Ag/Business management. This degree led him to a job at Mililani Memorial Park in Hawaii, starting with supervising the grounds that led Jim to be the Vice President. Ten years later he moved to Greeley, Colo., where he worked for Raincat Irrigation. It was in Colorado they began their love for camping. Retiring in 1994 brought the beautiful couple back home to California where Jim was active in People Helping People and working one day a week at the Morro Bay golf course; there he was able to play golf two to three days a week a few months before his death. Jim also belonged to the Thaddeus Sherman Lodge, No. 196 F&AM - Paso Robles and the United Methodist Church. Survived by his beautiful wife of seventy years, Gara (Brown) Jessup; children: Barb (Dale) Sally of Exeter, Calif.; Steve (Bobbie) Jessup of Visalia, Calif.; Chuck (Jackie) Jessup of Edgewater, Fla., and Gara (Casey) Klements of Evanston, Wyo. Eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren in California, Florida and Wyoming. In lieu of flowers please donate to family for a plaque in Jim's honor at the Rose Garden.
