- Peter Delvee emigrated circa 1752 from Holland. As a small boy, he accompanied his parents and a younger brother to the New World. On the voyage, his mother died, not an uncommon occurrence in those days. Upon reaching this shore, his father soon died leaving Peter and his brother orphans. Peter was placed with a family in Oxford, Massachusetts. His brother was also placed, but here he disappears into history. To date, no trace of him has been found.

- In the spring following his marriage, Peter moved to Warwick, built a house and started a farm. In the fall he returned to Oxford to bring his wife and new daughter, Bathsheba, back to their new home. It is said that after Lucy's arrival in Warwick, she did not see another woman for a year. Their farm was a prosperous one of over 280 acres.
