    General Information According to Betty-Sue Pratt (1997), "He had numerous marriages but except for the children of is 1st wife, I am not sure of the names or numbers of others." He used many alias' over the years. Some were Stephen Charles Hoffman and Leo Desmoraux. We do know of a branch in Texas but he used an alias at that time." From Naomi Sturtevant (2000) we learn that he used the last name of "Hoffman" in Texas, and that his two children down there have that name, not Ballou. In 1965, he had a stroke.  [16, 19]
