  DENNIS - Charles K. Jonas died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Jan. 15, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. Born Feb. 13, 1952, on Centre Island, N.Y., he attended Friends Academy on Long Island, N.Y., Avon Old Farms in Connecticut and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine. Charley was married to Laurie Winter of Livingston, N.J., and Dennis, Mass., for 42 years until the day of his death. He was an accomplished finish carpenter and was employed by Rick Roy Construction in Harwich, Mass. He became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1978 along with his wife Laurie and was a member of the local congregation in Dennis for 17 years. His greatest joy was teaching others about the Bible. Charley also loved fishing in the bay, grilling, baking, making furniture and entertaining his large circle of friends and family. He was kind, helpful and considerate to everyone he met. He is survived by three children, Taylor Jonas of Dennis, Mass., Bronwen Jonas of Belchertown, Mass., and Charles K. Jonas Jr. of Chatham, Mass.; an older brother, William Bond Jonas of Centre Island, N.Y.; his father, Robert P. Jonas Jr. of Centre Island N.Y., and Naples, Fla.; stepmother Lulu Jonas of Locust Valley, N.Y., and Naples, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be private.
