ORANGE, MA - Marilyn R. (Whitney) Duda, 92, of Holtshire Road, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, April 04, 2023 with her daughter at her bedside.
Born in Northfield on June 5, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Helen (Bushnell) Whitney. She attended Northfield schools and as a teenager, she did housekeeping for the Northfield Chateau.
On September 5, 1947, Marilyn married Dominick P. Duda and enjoyed over 61 years of marriage until his death on April 13, 2009.
Marilyn was a stay at home mother. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and children on Lake Mattawa and at the Quabbin Reservoir. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening, and going to the casinos.
She had lived in Erving, Greenfield, College Park Maryland, Athol, and most recently with her daughter and son in law in Orange for the past 10 years.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Dorothy A. Frye and her husband, David, and Wayne D. Duda and his partner, Susan A. Seam, all of Orange; grandchildren, Michelle M. LaCroix of Sandown, NH, Nathan A. LaCroix and Alyssa Frye-Nelson, both of Orange, Joshua Duda of Sunapee, NH and Cory Duda of Wilder, VT; great grandchildren, Shawn LaCroix of Winchester, NH, Katelyn Meuse of Sandown, NH, Hunter Frye of Orange, Sage Duda and Celeste Duda, both of Sunapee, NH, Cedar Duda and Lily Duda, both of Wilder, VT.
Besides her parents and husband, Marilyn was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Duda Arms, a son Daniel Duda and by four brothers and one sister.
The family would like to thank the wonderful help and guidance of Care Central VNA & Hospice and Connected Home Care.
Per Marilyn's wishes, her body was donated for research to the UMass Medical School in Worcester.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Holtshire Cemetery, Orange, MA.
