He was an avid car enthusiast and close associate of the local Stroker Car Club. Gene supported and participated in local Cruise Night events and was a member of the ERLI days of racing and The "A" Team which set a land speed record. He often attended the weekly car shows at the Ludlow Lodge of Moose and in Chicopee."
