He served the town of Northfield as road commissioner for 10 years. He was a member of Harmony Lodge of Masons in Northfield, Ducks Unlimited, he played softball for the Finnegans and Mulligans, a team of the Northfield Seminary. He had served as a coach for the Northfield Little League and umpired baseball games. He and his son, Kenny, owned and raced harness race horses.
