    • Obituary: 18 Dec 2020; Dorothy Flora Grant (Wetmore) passed on December 16, 2020 at Applewood Home for Elders. Born on July 23, 1928 in Orange, the only child of Hazel Edith (Rock) and Leslie Thomas Wetmore, Dot was a graduate of Orange High School and proud to have been involved with Rainbow Girls. After graduation, Dot worked briefly at The L.S. Starrett Company. Married to William J. (Bill) Grant, Jr. on July 10, 1948, together they raised four sons Marshall, David, Jeff, and Bob, moving from Athol to Ohio and New Jersey and back to Athol, following Bill's job. She led a full life of giving love, receiving love, sharing laughs, and making friends. She loved gardening, crafts, golf (long time member of Ellinwood Country Club), playing bridge, helping her son at Grant's Optical Shoppe keeping the books and dressing the windows, wintering in Florida and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she loved dearly. Her passion was being outside. Bundle her up...set her on the porch in the sun...the lady was happy. Dot and Bill were long time members of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church. Dot leaves her children Wm. Marshall and his wife Judy of Athol, David and his wife Tori of Franklin, Tennessee and Bob and his wife Penny of Warwick; her grandchildren Derek Grant, Erin Grant, and William Grant, all of Athol, and Kaija Grant of Florida; her great grandchildren Joseph and Daniel Grant, David and Oliver Johnson, and Liam and Philip Stowell. She was preceded by her parents, her husband Bill in 2014 and by her son Jeff in 2005. Lovingly remembered, Dorothy (when she was in trouble), Dottie, Dot, Mom, Nannie will be truly missed. The family, on her behalf, sends special thanks to the outstanding staff of Applewood Home for Elders and Care Central VNA and Hospice, Inc. for the exceptional care, love, and compassion that they have shown Dot. Services will be private.
