He was born in New Britain on December 7, 1923. His early years in Hartford and West Hartford were marked by his enthusiasm for athletics. He had lived in Wethersfield since 1957 with his loving wife of 48 years Janice (Pollard). Also left to mourn him are his adoring daughters Nancy Jacobs of West Hartford and Laurie Scinto and her husband Michael of Farmington. He also leaves his precious grandchildren Sam and Melissa Scinto of Farmington. He is also survived by his brother Raymond Jacobs of Windsor and his sister Elizabeth Baranski of Newington. He was predeceased by his brothers William and James B. Jacobs. A veteran of World War II, Eddie served as a pharmacist's mate in the U.S. Navy. Among his duties, was transporting and caring for troops on D-Day and throughout the invasion of Normandy. He was a fixture in West Hartford as the president of Jacobs Paint and Wallpaper where he worked from 1948 until his death. Calling hours will be at Farley-Sullivan, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held Friday, December 3, at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home followed by services at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church St., Hartford. Burial will be held in Village Cemetery in Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church Cathedral where he was a member for over 70 years. She will be reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 48 years, Edward. She was born on October 30, 1936 in Montague, MA to James Pollard and Helen Field Pollard. Janice was lovingly cared for by her grandmother Nelly Field prior to moving to Hartford with her father in 1947. Janice and Eddie were married in 1956. Their marriage was truly special as they loved, played, beached at Watch Hill, and worked together at Jacobs Paint and Wallpaper in West Hartford. Family was most important to Janice and she was an incredibly loving mother to her two daughters, Nancy and Laurie, while raising them in Wethersfield and continued to share in their lives as they matured. Deeply sorrowed by her passing are Nancy Jacobs of West Hartford and Laurie and Michael Scinto of Farmington. Janice's grandchildren, Sam and Melissa Scinto, were extremely special to her and they will sorely feel this loss. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and business partner Raymond Jacobs, Sr. of Windsor and several nieces and nephews. Janice appreciated the special care she received at Hartford Hospital and her family is thankful for the kindness they shared. Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 21 from 4-7 p.m. at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A memorial service in Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church St., Hartford, will be conducted on Friday, June 22 at 10 a.m. Burial in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield, will be private at the convenience of the family.
