The son of Joseph and Pauline (Vaitekunas) Truchinskas, Tony was born in Athol, MA on September 28, 1942 and lived there for his entire life. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish.
After graduating from Athol High School in 1960, he worked at Tyler Millwork Co. before joining the Toolmaker Apprentice Program at the L.S. Starrett Co. at age 19. He went on to work at Starrett's for 46 years, retiring at age 64 after having been foreman of the Tool Room for several years. While raising his family, Tony also worked side jobs as a gas station attendant and then as a bartender at Omer's Restaurant.
Tony enjoyed playing softball, ice hockey, fishing and hunting before activities were curtailed by severe rheumatoid arthritis. After that, he enjoyed his spectator sports, watching the Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR racing. He was a lifetime member of the American Lithuanian Naturalization Club, eventually becoming president. He also rose through the chairs of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks to become the Exalted Ruler. He especially enjoyed activities through the Elks that supported students and the community.
