    • Obituary: 27 Sep 2007; VENICE, FL Stella Adenia Keenan (91), passed away in Venice, Florida Thursday, Sept 20th. Prior to moving to Florida and being cared for by Jacqueline Bryant, Adenia was a long time resident of Barre, MA. Adenia was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John (Jack) Keenan. She is not survived by either of her parents nor her five brothers and sisters. Although she had no children, she was a strong influence in the lives of her nephews: Douglas Bryant of Florida, Bruce Bryant and Raymond Bryant (both deceased), Walter Hood of NH and Bob Ford of Florida. She left many grand nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. Born in Phillipston, MA, Adenia spent her early years on the Baker farm and graduated from Athol High School. After marrying and moving to Barre, Adenia spent many years working at the Barre Wool Combing Co. until it closed in the 1970s. In addition to working, Adenia was a member of the Barre Congregational Church and very involved in the Lady's Auxiliary for the American Legion Post 2 for 59 years. While with the Auxiliary, Adenia held many offices including the presidency. Adenia enjoyed her time with the Auxiliary and took great pride in marching in the Memorial Day parades and the placing of the wreaths on the various war memorials. Adenia enjoyed attending all of the sporting events of her nieces and nephews in Barre as well as the Barre Community Band Concerts. She also enjoyed hosting the Keenan family deer hunting parties every fall. Most of all, she will be missed as the hub for all family news. With her manual typewriter she wrote hundreds of letters each year updating family and friends on local news and gossip.

Stella married John Alfred "Jack" Keenan on 12 Feb 1937 in Phillipston, Worcester County, Massachusetts. John (son of John A. Keenan and Alice Marrilla Babbett) was born on 28 May 1913 in Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts; died on 18 Sep 1998 in Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts; was buried in Glen Valley Cemetery, Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
