    • Obituary: 12 Sep 2005; PETERSHAM -- Ruth M. Coolidge, 89, of Somersworth, NH, formerly of Petersham, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 at the Riverside Rest Home, in Dover, NH, after a long illness. She was born in Petersham on March 2, 1916, and was the daughter of Edward O and Mabel (Cook) Coolidge. She was raised in Petersham and was a graduate of Petersham High School. She went on to further her education and graduated from Simmons College. She was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Corps as a medical technician. She lived most of her adult life in Brookline, and had lived in the Somersworth area for the past three years while her nephew Ralph Bowley of Somersworth was caring for her. Before her retirement, she had been a legal secretary. Ruth had also worked for the Framingham Women's Prison. She loved history and had done extensive research through the years on the family tree. Family members include her nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Chester Coolidge, and by two sisters, Rosamand Coolidge and Lydian Bowley. Graveside committal services will be held in the East Street Cemetery, Petersham, on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to: The Petersham Historical Society, c/o James Baird, 10 Main Rd., Petersham, MA 01366.
