- Obituary: 17 Sep 1996; BARRE - Velma (Shepardson) Bryant, 83, of 46B Kendall St., a retired high school cook, died yesterday in Quaboag Nursing Home, West Brookfield, after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 63 years, Merton E. Bryant; three sons, Bruce S. Bryant of Oklahoma City, Douglas E. Bryant of Cleveland and Raymond A. Bryant of Barre; a sister, Stella E. Keenan of Barre; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Victor Shepardson of Phillipston, died last February. Born in Phillipston, daughter of Detroit and Neva (Baker) Shepardson, she lived most of her life in Barre. She graduated from Athol High School.
Mrs. Bryant worked for 10 years at Barre Wool Combing Co. and then worked at several area restaurants. Later, she was a pastry cook at Barre High School, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Barre Congregational Church.

His Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 22, at 11:00 am at the Barre Congregational Church, Park Street, Barre. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of SW Florida, 220 Wexford Blvd., Venice Fl, 34293."
