She was born in Northfield, MA on August 24, 1920 the daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Field) Whitney. Madelyn was educated in Northfield schools and was a graduate of Northfield High Class of 1938. She worked at the former Greenfield Tap & Die during WW II. She was married to Carroll Mankowsky for sixty-seven years until his death in 2012. She was a communicant of St. John's Church in Millers Falls, MA. She loved her home for sixty eight years in Millers Falls and enjoyed caring for it. She loved to travel and had several crafts, most notably knitting and rug making. She was happiest when providing child care to the little people of her extended family, who loved her right back. She is survived by two sons: David of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Paul of Naples, Fla., five grandchildren, and one great grandchild, and by dozens of nieces and nephews and cousins. There will be a time of gathering at the Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker Ave, Northfield, MA on July 28, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Farms Cemetery, Northfield, MA.
