- Obituary: 5 Nov 2015, Brattleboro, Windham County, Vermont; 1924 - 2015 BRATTLEBORO Alberta Ruth Bellville, 91, formerly of Green Street passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, October 31, 2015 at Pine Heights Nursing Home. Mrs. Bellville was born in Putney on September 12, 1924 the daughter of Watson and Kathryn (Kingsbury) Magoon. She was raised and educated in Putney and Brattleboro attending Putney School, Canal Street School and was a graduate of Brattleboro High School, Class of 1943. She had worked most of her career as a switchboard operator employed at the former Windham College, Brattleboro Retreat and for the New England Telephone Company when the offices where located in the Barber Block on Main Street. She also co-owned with her husband Johnny's Drive-In in Hinsdale and Page's Dairy Bar in Brattleboro. In her earlier years she had worked at the former Spaulding's in Brattleboro. With her husband, Ken, she also provided foster care for many local children providing them with a loving and safe home. Steadfast in her walk of faith, Mrs. Bellville was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she was active with the church's Relief Society. Mrs. Bellville was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed time spent with her family and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. On January 27, 1945 in South Mills, N.C. she was married to Kenneth Bellville. Her faithful and devoted husband of 70 years predeceased her on March 18, 2015. Survivors include two sons, Peter Bellville of Galt, CA and Jeffrey Bellville of Brattleboro; two daughters, Jan Bellville of Brattleboro and Lynn McCarty of Acampo, CA; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by two brothers, Albert and Robert Magoon; a daughter, Gail Lamson; and three sisters, Maxine Smith, Virginia Taylor and Anita Stone. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside committal services will be conducted on Friday at 1p.m. in the Bellville family lot in Christ Church Cemetery in Algiers. - Obituary: 27 Aug 2011; Brattleboro- Gail Ellen Bellville, 62, formerly of 107 Elliot Street died Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2011, at Pine Heights Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Gail was born in Brattleboro on July 4, 1949 the daughter of Kenneth and Alberta (Magoon) Bellville. She was raised and educated in Brattleboro and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1967.
She was previously married to Donald Lamson, in the Brattleboro area in 1969.
With her husband she co-owned Tyler's General Store in Hinsdale for ten years retiring early due to the onset of multiple sclerosis. Previously the couple resided in Wallingford and were publishers and owners of the Town Crier, a weekly newspaper based in Rutland.
Gail was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Of her leisure time activities, she enjoyed dinning out, cookouts, home decorating, swimming and time shared with her family.
Gail was a very loyal person and was known for her witty, fun personality as well as her spirit of friendship.
Survivors include her parents of Brattleboro, two sisters, Jan Bellville of Brattleboro, Lynn McCarty of CA, two brothers, Jeffrey Bellville of Brattleboro and Peter Bellville of CA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends that include her caregivers.
Graveside committal services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the family lot in Christ Church Cemetery in Guilford. There are no calling hours at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Gail's name may be made to Pine Heights Activities Fund, 187 Oak Grove Avenue, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
