    • Obituary: 28 Jun 2015; Cynthia P. Whitney, 57, passed away Thursday, June 25th, at her beloved family home at 92 Wood Pond Rd, West Hartford (Farmington) with her family by her side. Her heart is mended and ours are broken. Cynthia was born in 1958 with congenital heart failure. She had endured four open heart surgeries and multiple pacemakers and ICD's. Cynthia's heart is now whole and at peace with our Lord Jesus. Cynthia now rests with her mother and best friend Pauline Whitney, her brother Glenn H. Whitney, her Aunt and Uncle Patricia and Robert Bowen and Uncle Bernard Loughlin. Cynthia worked in airport security and retail management. She was a great photographer and could make any plant grow and thrive. Her observations of nature should have been written down and published. She was a true animal lover as was proven when she rescued many baby ducklings over the years on the lake. All family pets abandoned her siblings and ran to her whenever she walked in the door. Cynthia enjoyed driving her 1973 Mustang convertible with the top down and the wind blowing her hair. She loved the ocean and its majestic surf and was an avid surfing fan. She went to cheer on the women UConn Huskies before Gample Pavilion was built, was a season ticket holder for decades, and the team never lost the NCAA Championship whenever they played that game on her birthday, April 7th. Her courage and ability to smile and laugh through her medical condition was inspirational to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Cynthia was very proud of her Irish heritage. Her candid Irish wit, always delivered with a twinkle in her eyes, was renowned, and could knock the socks off of any unsuspecting (or deserving) person. Cynthia was very much at home and at peace whenever she attended mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Farmington. Cynthia had the love and support of an exceptional group of friends that she had known since high school, Charlie and Cathy LaBarge, Matt Fulmer, Dave and Cindy Arnold, John and Peri Pogson, and the late David Gale. Cynthia is survived by her sister and best friend, Elaine E. Whitney who lived with Cynthia, her brothers Wayne B. Whitney of Glastonbury and Laurence R. Whitney and his wife Janice Whitney of Simsbury. Cynthia also leaves behind her Uncle and Aunt Robert and Joan Reincke of Colchester, Aunt Pauline Loughlin of St Augustine, Florida, many cousins, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, dear friends Michele Whitney, Joanne Odell, and an especially close cousin who was like a sister, Sharon Tucker. Donations can be made on Cynthia's behalf to The Friendship Service Center of New Britain, 241 Arch St., New Britain CT 06051, or the Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy, PO Box 210, Litchfield, CT 06759. Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 30 from 9:00AM to 10:30AM at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 110 Main Street, Farmington, CT with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, Farmington.
