    Text CHESTER -Marjory E. Putnam passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, the first day of Spring, at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marjory was born July 30, 1911. Marjory was married to Harold Putnam and they enjoyed farming and caring for animals until his death in 1957. Marjory worked for 30 years at Springfield Hospital until her retirement in 1989. She was predeceased by her husband, her son, Arthur "Sonny" Putnam, and daughter-in-law Roberta. She enjoyed fishing with her sister, Edna, watching the birds visit her birdfeeders and baking banana bread. She enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers and was still actively tending her gardens until the last few years of her life. Marjory was very devoted to family and spent much of her time babysitting for her six great-grandchildren. Marjory is survived by her brother, Ted, grandchildren Dan, Marsha, Richard and Paul, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 35 Depot St., Chester. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield. A visiting hour in the funeral home will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
