    Text Funeral services for Iva L. Delvey, 79, of Helena, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Springlake Missionary Baptist Church in Southland. The Rev. T.P. Taylor will officiate. Burial will be at the Springlake Cemetery.



    Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Jackson and Highley Funeral Home in West Helena.

    Delvey was born July 12, 1923, to the late Fannie Lee and Charlie Henry House in the Southland Community of Phillips County. She died Sept. 13, 2002 at Helena Regional Medical Center.

    She accepted Christ at the age of 10 and her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior kept her steadfast throughout her entire life.

    She was married to William Maxey and six children were born to their union. She later married David Delvey and to their union four children were born.

    She dedicated her life to her husband, children and friends. She exhibited her many creative talents through her poetry, writing, sewing, drawing, gardening and cooking until her health failed.

    She left her home in Arkansas to live in California, where she lived for 48 years. She returned to her roots in 1992 and resided in Helena until her death.

    She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 46 years, David Delvey, six sons and their families, Larry Thomas Maxey, David Henry Maxey, Joseph Charles Maxey, Edward Carl Delvey, James Ernest Delvey and wife Patti, Michael Floyd Delvey and wife Sylvia; four daughters and their families, Winifred Virginia Maxey, Mary Jean Maxey-Valber, Eleanor Kay Maxey-Tappan, and Alice Susan Delvey Williams and husband Jay, sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

    Jackson and Highley Funeral Home in West Helena will direct services.
