Etna, ME — Derrill H. Ballou, 98, died July 15, 2021 at his residence. He was born April 5, 1923 in Greenfield, MA, the son of Cecil and Mary (Richards) Ballou.
Derrill graduated from high school and worked for most of his life as a dairy farmer. He held the Boston Post Cane for Etna as the town's oldest resident and was a member of the Pittsfield Congregation, Jehovah's Witnesses.
He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Peirce and brother Richard Ballou; adopted sister Betty Sue Ballou (Pratt); children, Lorraine (Tom), Alan (Donna), Derilyn (Binney), and Glen (Denise); his grandchildren, Caleb (Katie), Jesse (Becky), Briana, (Joe), Jacob, Kelly (Dave), and Benjamin (Jessica); great grandchildren Ethan and Grady.
Derrill was predeceased by his wife Sylvia.
The family wishes to thank Northern Light Homecare and Hospice for their kind assistance during Derrill's illness.
Private family graveside committal services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna.
